Louise Costigan-Kerns began studying the piano at age three in Blairmore, Alberta, Canada. At age five she gave her first public recital and became a consistent prize-winner at Alberta Music Festivals through high school.

She attended the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, earning her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees. She later served on the NEC Preparatory School faculty and was Founding Director of the NEC Extension Division Opera Studio.

She has served on the piano faculty at Stanford University, as a voice and opera coach at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and on the faculty at Notre Dame de Namur University. She now maintains a thriving private studio in San Carlos, California. Her students are consistent winners of national and regional competitions and perform on premier stages worldwide.
